Women’s empowerment. A guideline document

In this paper, ActionAid outlines a framework for measuring its interventions on empowerment with a particular focus on women emerging from situations of violence. The paper offers a review of related empowerment theories, an overview of how the concept has been applied in practice by international, national and civil society organizations and finally proposes its own multidimensional definition of empowerment accompanied by a non-exhaustive list of standard indicators.
