Objective of the project

We want to promote the socio-economic independence of women who experienced domestic violence through a multistakeholder network approach.

Abstract of the project

Anti-violence centres, institutions, companies, trade unions, employment and training centres will co-design and test work support measures for women survivors of domestic violence, including adapting work-life balance measures to the specific needs of women and expanding anti-discrimination policies for women who have experienced violence.

The specific objectives of the project are
– To consolidate the capacity of AVCs and support services to influence institutional processes related to women’s socio-economic empowerment;
– To increase the participation of companies and the world of work in general in local multi-stakeholder ecosystems to promote women’s autonomy also through decent work opportunities;
– To improve policies supporting women survivors of domestic violence to overcome obstacles to their economic independence;
– To promote the integration of policies concerning the protection and socio-economic empowerment of women survivors of domestic violence as well as discrimination, at national and European level

Context analysis

Violence against women is a widespread problem throughout the European Union. In 2014, the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) carried out a survey, the first of its kind, asking 42,000 women about their experience with violence. According to the results, almost one in four women had experienced physical, sexual and/or psychological violence in the course of their relationships.

Anti-Violence Centres (CAV) play a key role in providing women with the necessary support to get out of all forms of violence (physical, sexual, psychological, economic) through a customised pathway that can include shelter, legal and psychological support, and referral to territorial services. The experience of the CAVs shows that women often do not interrupt violent relationships because they do not have sufficient economic autonomy.
